Movember Results

Thank you for all our MoBros and MoSistas that supported us in our Movember campaign this year.

During the month of November, we pledged to donate £2 to the Movember Foundation for every Facebook post share and page like in an effort to raise vital funds to support Men’s Health. Even though we did not manage to meet our ambitious goal after the final tally, we have decided to do some rounding up and donate a total of £500 to the cause. We look forward to challenging our record and participating again next year!

MEMBRANE, by Jette Scheib

Innermost is pleased to partner with German designer Jette Scheib in introducing a new pendant lamp – Membrane – into their quickly expanding blown glass range.

A tactile, sculptural piece, Membrane captures the precise moment bulb and shade become one; its voluptuous glass form giving way to penetrating light sources. Details such as a gentle gradient in smoky glass coupled with polished gunmetal fittings result in a sophisticated design well suited to upscale interiors.

Membrane will be exhibiting at Maison et Objet in Paris in January 2016 along with innermost’s latest collections.

Lateralis Awarded GDA 2016

Our Lateralis table lamp, by Australian designer Ben McCarthy, has been awarded the German Design Award 2016: Special Mention for Excellent Product Design.

The German Design Award is one of the best-known design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles. The competition sets the highest standards when it comes to selecting the prize-winners: thanks to its unique nomination process, products are only invited to participate if they demonstrably set themselves apart from their competitors in design quality. This year, there were 3,400 entries, 57% of which competed in the area of Excellent Product Design.

This much-coveted award will be presented to Lateralis by the Rat für Formgebung / German Design Council on February 12th, 2016 in Frankfurt in the context of the international trade fair Ambiente. Lateralis will be exhibiting at Messe Frankfurt along with other winners of the German Design Awards 2016 throughout the fair (12.02.2016 – 16.02.2016).

Innermost will also be exhibiting with Lateralis at Maison et Objet Paris prior to that, in January.

The Essential Collection

We are pleased to introduce the all new Essential Collection – a minimalist range of lamps in pure, unadulterated forms that speak to the materials from which they are crafted. Simple silhouettes allow these lamps to complement any interior, in clusters, rows, or even by their lonesome.

In the classic finishes of innermost best-seller – Beads, this is one small Boule with a great impact!

Core was designed by Steve Jones and Frankie Chan from innermost. It resembles a parison of molten glass, fresh from the furnace, its form still slowly being shaped by gravity’s pull.

Drop is a white frosted glass globe delicately topped with a white powder coated stainless steel cap. Resembling a drop of pristine pearl, it is reminiscent of the flourishes of the mid-century.

Transparent hand blown glass shades that seem to quiver in the light, colourful Jelly is a treat for the eyes. With four colours across two sizes, the collection truly comes alive when mixed and matched together.

POMELO is deliberately subtle. A quiet diffusion of light in white opal glass. Its stately, voluptuous form provides an ambient effect with a sculptural twist.

Made In Europe

Hand blown glass parts from the Czech Republic for new collections – MATRIOSHKA, by Stone Designs, and LATERALIS, by Ben McCarthy – arrived at innermost’s factory in Telford, UK, earlier this month and assembly has been making remarkable progress.

When it comes to sourcing, innermost looks for the highest quality and best value. We are proud to have the body of our glass collections crafted in Europe by our Czech Republic partner, from a nation centuries rooted in glass artisanship and renowned for the quality and beauty of their work.

From there, the glass vessels travel 1000 miles to Telford, England, to join the other lamp components – each piece, however intricate, designed by our own team with the end user in mind. The final product is then assembled by members of our team, within our own facilities to ensure that the resulting luminaire wears our brand with pride.

Today, Innermost’s programme to repatriate more production back to the UK includes all of our glass ranges, the British rocking sheep HIHO, parts of the BEADS collection, lampshade classics such as LIGHTHOUSE or other bespoke lampshade options, and the list is sure to grow.

YOYLight: Now at MoMA

YOYLight is now exclusively available at the Museum of Modern Art Design Store in the United States.

An elegant execution of a simple, fun idea – it was picked up immediately by merchandisers at the lamp’s debut at Euroluce, Milan earlier this year.

Innermost has partnered with MoMA in the past, and with considerable success. Particularly with the CANVAS Armchair, also by YOY for innermost, that continues to sell brilliantly at the store. So when MoMA approached us again at Milan, we felt it was a great fit to begin YOYLight’s journey in America with an exclusive introduction at the Museum of Modern Art Design Store.

Soon you will see YOY’s signature surreal design, gift-ready and wrapped in innermost’s token bold graphic design, with yellow graffiti and all, lining the shelves of the design paradise that is the MoMA Store. It’s the perfect present for today’s design savvy New Yorkers.

Not in the United States? YOYLight will be available very soon in Europe, contact us for more details.

Matrioshka: SMOKE is the New Black

While our warehouses are busy readying stocks of new product lines for Autumn, our design team has been busy too. innermost is pleased to announce a 4th colour that will join the Matrioshka colour way – Grey. It is a smokey colour that illuminates wonderfully on the lamp’s shapely form.

Design trends tend to be unpredictable and subject to sudden change. But one trend that has certainly been on the rise is smokey or cloudy glass.

Smoke coloured glass is sultry and mysterious. Its dark outline calls for intensity and drama – Which is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that it was so popular during the 1970s, a time where bold patterns, colours, and attitudes dominated the design scene.

So Smoke or Grey Glass can be retro, but its understated appearance also lends beautifully to creating quiet sophistication or loud contrasts against other materials in a modern setting – iridescent pieces or metallics, for instance.

Be prepared to see more smoke glass pieces coming soon from innermost!

MATRIOSHKA is a product of Stone Design‘s curious investigation into the beautiful medium of glass – translucent bodies of colour reflect and refract light, reshaping the world through each lens.

Hand-blown in the Czech Republic, then assembled in our Telford Factory in the UK, this new glass collection was first launched in Red, Blue, and Yellow during this year’s Euroluce in Milan.
