Innermost at the Retail Design Expo London

Alongside exhibitors from every branch of the retail design, marketing and visual merchandising sectors, we are delighted to be exhibiting at this year’s Retail Design Expo. As Europe’s leading annual event for innovation and inspiration in Retail Design, Marketing & Visual Merchandising, we are thrilled to be taking part this year to demonstrate our latest innovations for the retail industry.

One of the products on display, which has already been taking the industry by storm is DropLED, the unique LED module that is dimmable, flexible and suitable for all ceiling locations. This is an affordable solution for beautiful retail lighting with low energy-consumption. It gives retail designers greater freedom and flexibility to specify LED in areas that were previously not energy efficient, such as in traditional lampshades. Though it might seem like a simple innovation, it truly opens up areas of lighting that, to date, have not been able to achieve full compliance.

Technology is also at the forefront with our new collaboration with Casambi, a lighting control solution that brings infinite options of wireless functionality to all retailers and designers. Lighting can be controlled via smartphones, tablets or switches, allowing dimming and changes to color temperature to instantly change the way interiors look and feel. We will be demonstrating the elegant, practical and affordable solution throughout the show, and how it can be integrated with our entire range.

Also on display throughout the show will be innermost’s new collection, showcased for the first time at Euroluce last month.

We will also be bringing along some bottles of our unique ‘Ginnermost’ gin, so do join us for a taster!

I’d like to talk to you about Doric

Have you heard about our new range of ‘marble’ pendants? We launched Doric at the recent Euroluce exhibition and the range was a huge hit. If you didn't see Doric at the show, don't fear, Anusha is here to show you all the unique properties of this marble-look range.

Find out what togas and seashells have to do with this pendant design from James Bartlett…

Thank you Milan!

We are back and recovering from our best ever show at Euroluce in Milan. With an impressive range of new products and award-winning classics, there was plenty to attract visitors to our striking stand. Along with cutting-edge technological innovations and a bar fully stocked with the unique Ginnermost… all in all a great show!

Our lighting pieces were suspended between assorted columns and pillars on a dark blue stand that made a wonderful backdrop to the series of distinctly contrasting designs. From the complex product series of the Brixton range, to the highly innovative materials used to create a Kepler: the new collection demonstrated the breadth and diversity of our product range, influenced by the city we call home, as well as distant places. Click here to read about the new collection in full.

As well as exhibiting the innermost collection, this was our first time presenting another brand, and the EOQ collection made a wonderful compliment to our range. With their classic design principles, EOQ products are perfectly engineered with sublime, sleek finishes. From extruded aluminium to hand blown glass, each design is crafted with precision engineering; quality that was evident to visitors at Euroluce when they could be admired up-close. The technical, satin look of their product is truly current and attracted great interest throughout the show. For any enquiries about the EOQ range please contact us.

Visitors were drawn to the stunning stand and beautiful products but discovered more than just the impressive aesthetic. Technology was at the forefront in our new collaboration with Casambi, a lighting control solution that brings infinite options of wireless functionality to all consumers. We demonstrated the bluetooth control system which allows our range to be controlled via smartphones, tablets or switches. This elegant, practical and affordable solution was extremely popular and kept interested visitors on the stand, discovering the opportunities of this great new technology. Find out more about Casambi compatibility, or contact us now to discuss further.

If you also missed the opportunity to taste our unique artisan Ginnermost during Euroluce, then it’s not too late! Why not visit us for a gin tasting at the Ginnermost bar in the Oxo Tower? If you are interested in this for yourself or your team email us.

With the highest number of visitors, the most leads and the biggest selection of new products, Euroluce surpassed all previous shows as well as our expectations. Thanks to everyone that visited and made this the exciting and successful show it was!

SaloneSatellite is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year by having a separate showcase in central Milan throughout the month of April.

“SALONESATELLITE. 20 Years of New Creativity” is the large exhibition curated by Beppe Finessi at the Fabbrica del Vapore. It is an anthology of pieces presented during the twenty editions of SaloneSatellite as prototypes, which then went into production.

Out of these 20 most successful and best-known designs from the last 20 years, 7 have been produced by innermost. Innermost are in the top 3 for the most designs produced from SaloneSatellite, and co-founders Russell Cameron and Steve Jones reflect on the quality of the designers and innovative designs that they have seen over their years of visiting. “From the innermost ‘classics’ like the Jeeves Light and the Circus range to the award winning lighting and furniture such as YOYLight and Canvas, over 8 products from the innermost collection were discovered at SaloneSatellite.”

All the designs will be on display during Milan Design Week and the event is not to be missed.

Lighting control for the innermost range

At innermost we know the importance of keeping our range absolutely relevant to the changing market, so we are always looking for technological advances to ensure our products continue to be cutting edge. LED has advanced dramatically in a short space of time, and with our new DropLED ceiling assembly, we are giving all our products an LED option. But the next major change coming is connectivity and we are excited to announce our latest advancement: collaboration with a lighting control solution that brings infinite options to all consumers.

Dubbed ‘The most robust, cost effective and future proof wireless lighting control solution’, Casambi was the obvious partner for innermost’s connectivity solution. As the market leader using Bluetooth Low Energy, the Casambi system provides great user experience, high performance and scalability. They offer ease of installation and optimal functionality with minimal additional hardware and deployment costs, making it a smart choice for retail, residential, hospitality, outdoor projects and more.

Suitable for both the consumer market as well as the professional market, the Casambi user interface is made in a way that anyone can operate it, regardless of technical proficiency. Lighting can be controlled via smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, push buttons or switches. Dimming, color, and color temperature can be controlled to change the way interiors look and feel, while supporting more subtle effects to boost alertness or to help to relax, for example. Casambi say ‘Don’t just live with the lighting that you have, make it fit the atmosphere and mood.’

This is something that resonates with our own brand ethos. At innermost we are passionate about making beautiful, thoughtful and innovative products which enhance life. Whether found in cafes, bars, or meetings rooms, our lighting is central in spaces that bring people together and celebrate the social side of life.

The Casambi solution can be integrated into the standard innermost lighting fixtures or our new Universal LED ceiling assembly, DropLED. It doesn’t require any new wiring, switches, devices, or networks and configuration beyond plugging in the lighting fixture or Casambi-enabled LED bulb and pairing it to a Bluetooth smartphone or tablet. This means the installation costs are around half that of similar systems.

By using Bluetooth technology it is far more energy efficient than a wireless system, using less than a quarter of the energy of wireless control. The solution is self-healing and self-organizing and internet connection is only needed for user interface configurations via the cloud service. With Casambi the possibilities are endless, allowing the user to configure, save and recall scenes or animations, use motion sensors, define timers using sunrise/sunset, and much more. It is possible to achieve cloud based remote control, monitoring and data logging, for anything from basic fixture controls to industrial scale solutions.

Casambi works with any standard E26 & E27 lighting fixture and will be useable with most of our range, so you can achieve the most beautiful and unique lighting with the latest technology and control solutions. Feted as the ‘next big thing’, we are excited to be launching an integrated solution that is elegant, practical and affordable with a delightful and modern smartphone user experience.

YOY Wall wins Red Dot!

Slider YOYWall RedDot Award

The award-winning light strikes again!

The jury has reached its decision: after several days of assessing thousands of products from all over the world, innermost has received the distinction “Red Dot” for YOYWall. The expert committee for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 has recognised the outstanding design with the internationally sought-after seal of quality.

Designed by YOY Studio for innermost, YOYWall is a decorative LED wall sconce that cleverly projects the shape of it’s own lampshade. A simple idea very well executed often makes the best product, and this minimal wall light is simplicity that makes a great talking point. It is arguably the most minimal wall sconce possible, interacting with and using the wall in more than just a supporting role. The detail within YOYWall is hidden; a single LED unit that casts a very powerful glow through an aperture to create this optical illusion. Having won the prestigious NYC Design Prize for best light fitting in 2016, we are delighted to add the Red Dot distinction to the list.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award: “The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand in hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”

The international design competition, Red Dot Award: Product Design is well established internationally. For over 60 years, an expert team has been awarding the seal of quality for good design and innovation to the outstanding designs of the year.

Manufacturers and designers around the globe were invited to enter their products in the 2017 competition. The jury of around 40 independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists tested, discussed and assessed each individual product. In total, the competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries this year.

The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2017/2018 also comes out on 3 July. The international reference work for award-winning design presents all of the year’s winning products. They will also be presented on the Internet, in particular in the online presentation, the Red Dot App and on the design platform Red Dot 21.

See you in Milan!

Join us for the launch of an unforgettable new collection.

We can't wait to introduce our bold collection and show-stopping new stand at this year’s upcoming Euroluce in Milan.

As our most important event, Euroluce is our opportunity to showcase brand new products, demonstrate our award-winning designs, and share a Ginnermost & tonic with you!

We have always strived to be as ‘British as London itself’, and quite fittingly, the new collection has drawn on numerous influences from the city we call home, as well as inspiration from distant places.

Take the Brixton range, which is a complex product series that took inspiration from elements of South London architecture. Our Head of Product Development, James Bartlett, took the octagonal turrets that appear on buildings in the area as the starting point for his design, which has a strong engineered aesthetic. James Bartlett has used the elegant ‘Brixton’ module to create a series of decorative but very practical pieces, offering a uniform look for everything from wall lights and small pendants to some very innovative chandeliers.

In contrast, we worked with COHDA, the designers behind Kepler, in using highly innovative materials to create a luminaire that is reminiscent of black holes or portals from science fiction. We have named the compact and lightweight units after the German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer who discovered the Supernova: Johannes Kepler. The fine material, which has been likened to hosiery from the fashion industry, creates a fascinating effect, like a kaleidoscope of light rays. With Kepler there is an opportunity to create huge and impressive light installations that create the illusion of infinity. Truly a product that needs to be seen in real life!

Again, we've embraced innovative materials in the Doric range, which appears to be made from marble, but is actually produced from a special resin. Allowing for a unique form with beautiful scalloped detailing, these marbled pieces give the appearance of heavy, solid forms, that are in fact lightweight and translucent. James Bartlett was inspired by the forms of ancient columns and pillars, particularly those of the ancient Greek order of architecture: Doric.

Our stand will also reflect the inspiration for the new Doric range, with lighting pieces suspended between assorted columns and pillars, showcasing a series of distinctly contrasting pieces.

Our show-stopping chandelier comes in the form of Panel, by innermost co-founder Steve Jones. The use of both polished and matt surfaces were inspired by contemporary jewellery as well as architectural metal cladding. Steve Jones has layered a mix of finishes and forms to create this exciting chandelier with a contemporary feel. It’s a real statement piece that is available in a wide range of finishes and colours.

We like to ensure that each piece continues to be cutting edge by developing technological advances to keep the range absolutely relevant to the changing market. Exhibiting a varied LED collection, including the new DropLED, which is a ceiling assembly that gives all pendants a dedicated LED option, in an incredibly versatile manner.

We are also delighted to be demonstrating a new collaboration with Casambi, a lighting control system that brings infinite options of wireless functionality to all consumers. We will be demonstrating how the elegant, practical and affordable solution can be integrated with our entire range, so ask us for more information!

The new range demonstrates the breadth and diversity of our product range, as well as showing our technological strength as a company. And if that wasn’t enough, we will even be holding a ‘Ginnermost cocktail hour’, so join co-founders Steve and Russell everyday from 5pm to try our London-inspired gin. See you there!
