EOQ Distribution for Europe

We are delighted to announce that innermost are now the exclusive European distributor of the EOQ lighting and furniture range!

EOQ is rooted in a spirit of enquiry and industrial adventure. They use classic design principles with a new and constantly evolving vocabulary, delivering perfectly engineered pieces with sublime, sleek finishes. From extruded aluminium to hand blown glass, each design is crafted with precision engineering; quality that is evident when admired up-close.

The technical, satin look of their product is truly current and instantly attracted co-founders Steve and Russell to the brand. ‘With an aesthetic that fits right between technical and decorative, it is a style that will perfectly compliment the innermost range.’ As Steve describes, ‘The collection of lighting fits beautifully in interiors, from banks and offices to residential spaces, and will give our customers an amazing choice of  perfectly-executed lighting and furniture.’

The initial collections were made under the design direction of Michael Young, one of the generation’s most influential British designers, and the company continues to be driven by brand director, Matt Pepper.

Here are some of our favourite lines…

Bramah
Bramah represents the first exploration of lighting forms, reflected in the simple and recognisable silhouette. Extruded from a solid block of aluminium, the delicate shadows it creates are both beautiful and surprising.

Otto
The Otto stool has a cast aluminium seat and legs in Oak or Walnut. The special casting process allows the seat to be anodised in all the usual colour options, giving a vast range of decorative possibilities.

Joseph
The soft Asian silhouette of the Joseph collection belies the reassuring strength of an object crafted from a solid piece of aluminium. Each piece is extruded into shape, softened with CNC cutting before being milled to open up the core and allow the light to diffuse through the fins.

4a
A classic shape re-interpreted through modern production. The chair is made using both extruded and stamped recycled aluminium, which is then subject to hand finishing before surface treatment.

Dub
As the newest addition to the lighting range, Dub is made using the same raw extrusion, sculpted into a softer form by removing more aluminium material. This allowed EOQ to encase the resultant space in beautiful hand blown glass from the Czech Republic. The Glass shades are packed separately enabling a variety of colour combinations of glass and aluminium.

EOQ share innermost’s commitment to excellent quality and we are thrilled to be offering their full range of lighting and furniture for distribution to the European market. Visit EOQ to view the full range or contact us for more information.

Innermost and the Lighting Industry Association

We are proud to announce that Innermost co-founder, Russell Cameron, has been appointed as a Council Member for the LIA, the UK’s Lighting Industry Association which is dedicated to promoting best practice throughout the lighting industry.  As the predominant force behind British lighting, the LIA encourages excellence in lighting design which is why Innermost are proud to have been asked to be Ambassadors of the new Lighting Industry Academy. Innermost’s Steve Jones says “We are delighted to have closer ties to the LIA and of course to have been asked to be ambassadors to the new Lighting Industry Academy. The training academy is the first of its kind in the country and will ensure continued strong lighting design in the UK.”

The LIA represent only the highest calibre of British lighting companies, so we are also happy our Buckle chandelier now serves as the centerpiece for the LIA’s new reception. The unique effect from the delicate lighting sculpture has been likened to light bouncing off water; an impressive installation welcoming visitors to the home of British lighting.

Russell has also been asked to join the judging panel for Delight in Light taking place later this month, which is the National Lighting Designer Competition organised by the LIA. The award strives to promote the very best in lighting from young people and rising talent.  Established in 1985 the Lighting Industry Association Awards have become the premier competition for lighting design students in the UK.  The LIA see this as a mutually beneficial competition for the designers, the end users and for the lighting industry. “Very happy to be part of the judging panel alongside another great British brand and our old friends Anglepoise, the entries this year have been of a very high calibre so deciding from the final 6 is going to be tough” comments Russell.

‘The Delight in Light’ competition provides a platform for many exciting new lighting designs and offers young people an opportunity to better understand the industry. This is an outlook which resonates with Innermost, having always supported upcoming designers by turning many raw ideas into unique and diverse products.

Introducing DropLED

Slider DropLED Hanging no Bulb, Innermost dimmable luminaire Consumes Minimal Energy

DropLED: The universal LED ceiling assembly.

Announcing an evolution of the traditional ceiling assembly, with our new product, DropLED. Giving all pendants a dedicated LED option, this dimmable luminaire consumes minimal energy while providing beautiful lighting.

It’s a simple LED module that does not require complicated installation or need a bulky driver to operate. Our integrated module now means you can specify LED in areas that were previously not energy efficient, such as in traditional lampshades.

The DropLED unit can be made to fit any existing E27 (or E26 if you are reading this in North America) fitting that uses a standard screw fit; meaning there’s no need to alter any other specifications to have the latest LED technology. With current European legislation dictating that a minimum 75% of the lights in any new build or major refurbishment (both residential and commercial) need to be energy efficient, DropLED opens up a world of possibilities. Designers now have greater freedom when specifying and can achieve 100% compliance!

What else do you need to know?

– It’s dimmable, compatible with leading/trailing edge and Triac/Lutron dimming.

– It comes with optional bulb accessories to achieve different lighting effects including: a 270° globe diffuser, a clear spotlight lense, and a frosted cylindrical filament.

– We can supply all our standard table lamp bases such as Trumpet and Tripod with the same module by special order, perfect if you want to save energy costs in a larger hotel or residential installation.

– The DropLED specifications are as follows: CRI90, maximum output of 900lm, standard colour temperature of 3000K (also available in 2700K and 4000K) and long life, lasting over 30,000 hours.

– DropLED versions of our CAE27 & CAE26 ceiling assemblies will be available from 1st February 2017 and can be used with any lampshade or E27/E26 from anywhere in the world.

Behind the brand

Introducing our new brand video! We have made this short film to give an insight into the origins of the brand, the name and the ideas that launched innermost.

Founders Steve Jones and Russell Cameron discuss how they turned their shared rebellious approach to design into the furniture and lighting company it is today. Have a watch and see what you think here:

(Don’t worry, their heads have returned to normal size since filming)

The innermost Story

Where did it all start?

Back in central London in 1999, Steve Jones and Russell Cameron had a shared vision to create a company utilising their extended experience in design consultancy and furniture design. They had seen plenty of inspired ideas from raw, talented designers that were never being advanced beyond the conceptual. Realising that if they combined their design and manufacturing experience, these concepts could materialise into a unique and diverse range under a single brand. During these early discussions, the stand-out ideas were labelled those ‘close to their hearts’; ‘the inner thoughts; ‘the inner-most dreams’… And so, with a load of ideas, an in-depth manufacturing knowledge and the desire to turn stunning concepts into reality: innermost was born.

The innermost process

With our instinctive desire to rebel from the norm, innermost utilise materials and processes in unique ways to defy expectation. Our adept experience of manufacturing allows us to repurpose conventional approaches. Notably, we explore our passion for light and how illumination can be used as a raw material.

We are passionate about each design and every level of detail that goes into its manifestation. With our hands-on approach to manufacture, we travel across the globe sourcing the best quality materials and the most suitable producers for each product and every component. Whether we are prototyping in Hong Kong, using hand-blown glass by artisans in the Czech Republic, or doing bespoke engineering at our factory in the UK, we stay close to the manufacturing development at every level. And our proximity to the process means we regularly use our expertise in the industry to develop and manufacture products for other high end design houses in an OEM capacity. Learn more about our manufacturing process here.

At the inner-most of what we do…

Whether found in cafes, bars, or meetings rooms, our products are central in spaces that bring people together and celebrate the social side of life. Beyond the design development, seeing these concepts substantiated in public interior spaces is an important and thrilling part of the process. As designers, curators, industry experts, and mavericks, we thrive from taking wild ideas and creating beautiful, thoughtful and innovative products. We work with our clients to ensure that each piece continues to be cutting edge as we develop technological advances to keep our range absolutely relevant to the changing market.
